The Underlying Philosophy
Mission Statement
I am a libertarian, rationalist thinker keen to develop an innovative, economically right-wing version of politics. I want to fundamentally challenge and then ultimately overcome the present, yet deeply flawed centre-left academic and media near-consensus. Furthermore, the idiotic bureaucratisation that has led to has nullified most of the benefits (especially in terms of personal freedom) much improved technology should have brought to people.
Clearly many of the points I intend to make such as ‘the calculus of human time’ are available to most types of political opinion. However, my emphasis is on ‘realism’, that is adapting politics to the realities of human nature. I completely reject as damaging nonsense the present fashion for economic ‘equality’. Accordingly my political perspective and that of true rationalism is incompatible with modern left-wing politics.
I do not expect everybody, even of the political ‘right’ to agree with everything I say, especially as it starts from the most basic principles and is therefore very radical. Indeed, though grounded in human realities, it is frequently iconoclastic concerning traditional ideas. Yet I do hope, possibly with your help, these ideas will spread and benefit human societies.
An Original Worldview From An Original Thinker!
I am sending this series of mailings to significant people involved with politics mainly either as academics or as elected representatives of the political right, primarily in the English speaking world.
Why do I bother to send them (I could jet or cruise round the world with my money instead) and why should recipients read them?
I maybe arrogant (arrogance fortifiedby graduating froma top University, Cambridge, England, and seeing the best there were generally not that good). Yet I know I amvery often original in both my
thought and my world view, at least among the established and most distinguished thinkers both of the past and of the present.
I don’t claim I am always original (nor should I) nor that originality is necessarily a virtue. Cicero, the ancient Roman, claimed there is no notion so absurd that it has not been held by some philosopher.
Absurd or not, I am in these articles putting forward numerous notions not advocated by any known political philosopher. For example I have in the accompanying article and elsewhere been advocating bringing the essential context of human time within human lifetimes into the very forefront of political theory and
governance. I also emphasise practical reality and adapting political philosophy to human nature in ways other philosophers don’t. I shall focus on much else in future bulletins.
I am right-wing but not orthodox right-wing. Rather I am looking to establish a new strand of right-wing thought, essentially the inevitably right-wing politics of rational governance.
Of course though I know I am frequently original, I cannot always be sure of being correct. Nobody could reasonably claim to have overlooked nothing and always be correct. What however I do claim is a rational, reasoned approach to politics that takes account of both mankind’s improved technology and human nature while offering the prospect of more freedom for people in their lives is essentially the best approach.
